Welcome to Melrose Gordon Setter website!

We are going on our 36th year of breeding and training outstanding field Gordons for the demanding hunter and field competitor, while maintaining an enjoyable, intelligent companion dog for the entire family.

Wow! What a winter we had here in Missouri – or should I say NO winter to speak of. Sharon and I moved to Missouri 19 years ago from California and 2012 winter ended up as a typical California winter. Very unusual for the mid-west to say the least.

We have started our 2012 winter/spring breeding program and it has been a slow start. Sometimes Mother Nature just does not cooperate.
We should have puppies on the ground the first of May. Give us a call if interested.

I will start dog training in April and still have a few openings.
I trained several very nice setters last year, great time. Their owners have given me outstanding recommendations, thanks to all.

This is very important – all of you getting Gordon Setter pups this year, no matter from what kennel, be sure to keep your pup well socialized and exposed to different noises and environmental situations. This will help to eliminate spookiness and being timid which can be a problem in Gordon Setters.

Any questions about Gordons or training issues, just give me a call, for I enjoy talking bird dogs.
In most of the country this year, fleas, ticks and mosquitoes will be a problem, so keep a good eye on your dog this summer.

Enjoy your dogs as much as I do and all of us will be looking forward to bird hunting this fall.

Take care,
Russ
